Our thanks to eOne Heavy* for sponsoring the email newsletter today (you can see it here). They’ve had some killer releases this year including Creeping Death, Toxic Holocaust, Lord Dying, Enterprise Earth, The Contortionist, and tons more! Check out all their recent releases on Bandcamp.
To sponsor our newsletter, we asked eOne Heavy to donate to the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls. They sent over $200 (receipt on file if you want to verify), which is in the ultimate spirit of #MetalBandcampgiftclub. To find out how you can sponsor our newsletter, click here.
* I work for eOne Heavy on a freelance basis.
We managed to get our first sponsor for the Birthday Club Newsletter (just 10 days after after announcing it). We’ll announce who it is formally when the sponsorship begins, but we’re pretty stoked.
The movement and energy from #MetalBandcampgiftclub helped move $200+ to a girls rock camp, and that’s exciting. If we can move $200, we can move $2,000 someday.
If you want to be a part of this joyous ride, get on our email list first. Every now and again you’ll get an email, with a link to someone’s Bandcamp wishlist. A total stranger. But that’s where the magic happens. Click the link and go buy them an album. You not only made the person with the birthday happy, but a band sold an album. In 2019. That’s powerful.
From there, get on the Birthday Club list, so when your birthday comes around, maybe someone will buy you an album.
Good lord, I love this. Frantic, cryptic vocal delivery, noisy snares, loopy guitars? Sign me the fuck up. Got it on my wishlist, for sure.
Ground are from Spain and made up of two members, a drummer and guitar player. Let this song simmer, for the payoff comes later in the song with that sweet breakdown. Made my wishlist with that banger alone.
Yes, you can sponsor our email newsletter. No, we won’t take your money.
When you gift an album to someone, Bandcamp takes a small cut, and the rest goes to the band or label. We’re doing this work over here because we like encouraging people to buy music. We’re donating our time to something we care about!
The newsletter goes out to people who are interesting in a wild thing; buying albums, sometimes for complete strangers.
So to sponsor our email list, go to our signup page and see the # of subscribers. Today (11/9/2019) it’s at 52 subscribers. The subscriber count is how many dollars is cost to sponsor one email. So today it would cost $52.
Again, we won’t take your money.
Donate the money to your nearest Girls Rock Camp (or the one near me), and send us the receipt. That’s how you can sponsor our email newsletter.
You’ll also be mentioned in our Tweets when the email goes out, and we’ll write a nice blog post about your generous donation.

I’m so glad we live in a timeline that includes Axeslasher, because they’ve been churning out solid tunes for years now. Their latest ‘The Flames/Pit Of Legends” is worthy of your Bandcamp Wishlist, so make it happen.
You probably already know how to gift someone an album, but you can be a real #MetalBandcampgiftclub ninja, and let the band know about this cult of birthday giving. It’s real easy, and I bet it could lead to more people knowing about this crazy little thing we started a few years ago.
Mouse over any album in someone’s Wishlist (this happen to be Jacob “Beardy” Russell’s wishlist), and you’ll see three options:
Wishlist – this adds it to your own wishlist
Buy Now – Buy it and add it to your collection
Send As Gift – Click this to send the album as a gift.
Note the “Include a message to The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer….” text – that sends a note to the band via email.
I like throwing in the Metal Bandcamp Gift Club URL, just in case the band wanted to check out why an album is getting gifted. Maybe they’ll Tweet about it, and more people will discover this little gift club, which would only lead to more albums being gifted (and bands making money).
